Old Memories in New Orleans…

After a long, hard, busy work week, I arrived in New Orleans yesterday to join my parents, sister, and brother-in-law on what will be a week-long celebration of my Mom’s 50th birthday! My mom is originally from New Orleans, and therefore she decided she wanted to go back to her roots for this momentous occasion. So in honor of my mom, and in honor of a town I’ve visited numerous times over the course of my life, I thought I’d make a post about some of my N’awlins favorites…

STREET PERFORMERS:

FOOD:

Cafe Du Monde- Beignets & Cafe Au Lait
Beignet-a pastry made from deep-fried dough, much like a doughnut, and sprinkled with powdered sugar

Central Grocery Co.- home of the Original Muffuletta
Muffuletta- salami, ham, cheese, olive salad, and muffuletta bread

Mother’s Restaurant- Debris Sandwich

Other:

ARCHITECTURE, LANDMARKS, & SCENERY:

And most importantly… MY GRANDMA & MOM:
My grandma was probably one of the most inspirational people in my life due to her life and the many obstacles she had to overcome. Although she passed away in 2005, her memory has remained with me and been a great reminder about the importance of serving others.

My mom has been an amazing role model in my life in so many ways, and I’m truly blessed to have such an amazing woman in my life. Not only is she my lovely, beautiful mother, but she’s also one of my best friends.

So cheers to you Mom as we celebrate your special day, and cheers to this crazy, lively city called New Orleans!

Enjoy :)

As usual you are all looking wonderful. Wish I was there with you. Have a great week and celebrate, celebrate, celebrate. Happy 50th to Pam. It really is a great age to be, especially when you still look so young and beautiful.
